Sound Practitioner Training

Do you want to help people feel better using the healing power of sound ? Join us for our Sound Practitioner Training at Harmony Family Yoga. This initiation into the world of the Sound Practitioner is spread over two weekends and explores the history, theory, spirituality, science and practice of sound while providing hands-on training in playing gong, crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, shruti box, flutes, overtone singing, chimes, and more. This will be an intimate training with limited space. No prior experience required. No instruments required.

About the Training

Sound Practitioner Training is designed for both teachers and students who would like to begin using sound in public or private settings, or for those who are simply drawn to sound and wish to learn more. Sound Therapy and Sound Meditation (also sometimes called Sound Healing) are a range of practices used to bring about physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual changes using sound. Participants will learn the fundamentals of Sound Meditation and Sound Therapy and learn to deliver public and private sound sessions. Yoga and meditation teachers will learn how to incorporate sound therapy and guided meditation into their classes.


As a teacher of sound and meditation, Hamid Jabbar has been working with sound for over 20 years. He conducts empowers others to work with the voice, overtone emitting instruments like gongs and singing bowls, flutes, drums, bells, and chimes. As part of his journey into the world of healing sound, Hamid has spent extensive time in the Amazon Rainforest and Andes of Peru with indigenous groups learning traditional Curanderismo involving healing plants and songs. Hamid’s formal Western education includes a Doctorate degree from UCLA and Bachelor of Music degree from NYU. He holds the highest available designation with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500, certifying over 500 hours of training and 2,000+ hours of teaching.

***Participants in this training receive Certification as a Sound Practitioner (Level I). Yoga Alliance teachers receive 32-hours of Yoga Alliance CEUs.
